Waking Up in Toronto

Waking up in the morning and looking out of the window into a beautiful view of the city of Toronto. This is how we woke Saturday morning for our sixth wedding anniversary.

We really made a commitment this year that we will be focusing on our marriage, since we were busy having and raising babies these past few years. It's easy to start drifting away from each other no matter how strong your relationship is, when you don't spend quality time together doing what you both love to do. Even though I have a hard time leaving our kids behind, I felt very refreshed to get out of the routine and do something different for a few days. My hubby is pretty good at planning trips and therefore, he is usually the one that comes up with trip ideas and all that comes with it. He picked a very cute AirBNB that was right in the middle of all the action in Toronto, so we just walked around and explored the city.

The condo that we stayed in was very fresh and modern. It had a big view that extended from the living room all the way to the balcony. I don't particularly love the city life, but a visit with this kind of a view was very refreshing. This condo had two rooms which also had a view of the city. Just to give you a nice visual of the place, here are a few pictures.

Parking was probably the hardest thing to find even though the owners were sweet enough to leave us directions. We circled around a few times before finding the spot where we were supposed to park. I guess that is the city life.

We arrived Friday evening and decided not to make any reservations and just find a place to eat. After walking for about 40 minutes we found a very cute Mediterranean place to eat at called Byblos. It was the best Mediterranean food that I've ever had in my entire life. Their rice had a good amount of saffron in it, as well as flower petals, orange zest, and pieces of the pomegranate. It might sound weird, but it awakened taste buds in our mouth to a new world.

We honestly thought that it was just a matter of luck, but every place that we went to was excellent or in the words of a great brunch place we ate at, it was Eggscellent.

The city was pretty clean and there was a lot of tourist attractions that you could go and see. We went to the CN tower, which is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Right next to it was the aquarium, which had a massive tank that was right above your head with all kinds of sea creatures.

To top our visit, even though it was slightly raining, we saw the Niagra Falls from the Canadian side. I've seen Niagra Falls from the US side but I personally think that Canada has a better view.

I am usually one of those people that visits a place once and don't particularly want to come back, but this place was different. We only spent a day here but we will definitely be coming back for sure.

If you're looking for a getaway, I would highly recommend Toronto, Canada. :)
